| 1. STARTING POINT |
|
|
 |
|
|

|
 |
the Fortress is a 15th century
military architecture built during the French-Spanish conflict
in which Florence played a relevant role and Siena was involved
as well. the Enoteca is located in the North Eastern bastion
of the Medici Fortress in Siena
the Enoteca Italiana represents the most
important showcase of Italian wine and vineyards all over
the country and abroad. It offers to the visitors the chance
of getting in touch with the culture, the qualities and the
history of the finest Italian wine.
|
| 2. DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVE |
|
|
 |
|
|
historical aspects: fortresses
were usually equipped by escape ways through the whole structure,
in order to allow the spillage of the smoke condensed in the
basements after a powder’s explosion. The path created
by the flow of the smoke along this sort of fireplaces (Camini
di Volata) represents an ideal passage through the levels
of the fortress and the Enoteca in its inside. |
|
 |
| architectural aspects: the
internal disposition of shapes and spaces inside the Enoteca
reflects the architectonic complexity of the fortress based
on underground labyrinths, well-lighted halls, terraces and
hidden rooms. Ancient bricks from the old City Walls cover
the whole structure: from the walls to the vaults of the ceiling. From
the underground cellar to the skies that cover the fortress,
walking through the entrance and the halls of the Enoteca,
each level of this rich structure represents the setting of
a different story to tell. |
|
 |
| activity aspects: the Enoteca
Italiana as a public institution is mainly involved in:- selecting
and preserving the collection of the best Italian wines accurately
controlled by a committee of expert sommeliers- providing
an appropriate setting to taste and enjoy the wine- promoting
Italian wine and disseminating its culture |
|
|
| 3 . THE ENOTECH MANIFESTO |
|
|
 |
|
|
|
|
Enjoy drinking experience. Our aim is that
one of producing a deeper engagement in drinking. Which means
creating a more fruitful involvement in the tasting activity,
increasing the awareness by getting in touch with the wine
culture.Enhance personal interpretation of the experience.
Drinking as a personal process of interpretation and meaning
construction to share in a social experience. Combine the
acquisition of structured information and knowledge with the
emotional and sensorial subjective experience.
Choosing the “informal” tasting as an activity
to support and to enhance means focusing on:- cultural aspects
of knowledge and awareness related to the collection of the
Enoteca: the ancient tradition of wine production, the origin
of each bottle and the conditions that make them different
each from the other, stories and tales about vineyards, producers,
people and places;- the experience of wine tasting as a pattern
of sensorial and emotional aspects;- sharing knowledge about
wine and experiences of wine tasting with others: both chatting
around the table and distant in time and space |
| 4. THREE LEVELS |
|
|
 |
|
|
 |
|
KNOWLEDGE: Allowing and supporting the wine-culture
dissemination through sensitive and responsive environments
exploitable both in physical and informational ways. Supporting
the personalization of individual paths through the creation
of social construction of meaning
Smoke tube and Tastevin: a unique point of visualization in
the cellar to display information about single bottles and
Italian wine culture, both through evocative images and information
or technical and specific texts. A portable and wireless device
supports the users in capturing and collecting tagged information,
to visualize, print or download in a distributed system |
| |
|
EXPERIENCE: supporting the pleasure of wine tasting and drinking,
creating a suitable atmosphere around the table and in the
whole hall in a non-obtrusive and unperceivable way
Micro-particles: support the interaction with a sensitive
environment. It reacts dynamically to what occurs in the hall,
the people enjoying the wine, their actions, their moods,
changing subsequently the visual and auditory atmosphere around
each table and in the whole hall |
 |
|
SHARING: allowing the visibility, communication
between the Enoteca and its customers, flow of information
towards the outside.
Dioniso’s spheres: lightened spheres located over the
Medicean Fortress. They represent an indirect link between
the Enoteca and its surroundings. Each sphere match a table
inside the hall and they live according to what happen around
each table. The spheres change in light and intensity as change
the situations at each table: the people seated around, the
wine they are drinking, the tone of the conversation they
are having. |
